Debbie ODog Food Recipes...?
Here is the recipe for the stew we feed our three dogs.
1-package chicken thighs or breasts
1-package of frozen or fresh green beans
1-package of frozen or fresh broccoli (make sure to mush the spears well)
1- package of fresh squash and or carrots
and we use any bean that is in season, right now we are using white acres peas and butter beans. We don't use canned veggies (to many preservatives) we prefer fresh.
Chicken stock
Mrs. Dash original seasoning
Brown rice, couscous, mashed or sweet potatoes
Cook the chicken, Mrs Dash seasoning and one cup of water in a crock pot on low for several hours, if you buy bone in chicken the meat will fall off the bone when you strain it. Make sure you get ALL of the bones out.
After straining, picking and cutting into little pieces (for Chichi sized mouth) put back in the chicken stock and add veggies. Cook thoroughly (about 1.5 or 2 hours) until done. Make a pot of whatever starch you choose and keep it separate.
Your stew is done, (I have a pot cooking as we speak). I have a 4.5 pound Chihuahua and feed him 1/4 or a touch more at dinner time and for breakfast he get a quarter cup of oatmeal with honey.
We also add supplements including bone meal, multi vitamin (not pet tabs), cranberry (for urinary tract health) and vitamin C (500 mill.)
Our little ones are very healthy and look forward to eating everyday. We have never had to fight them to eat.
Good luck, I have lots of other recipes I can share as well.
