I have a 6 month old Yorkshire Terrier and I have been feeding him with Royal Canin everyday. I've heard that it's not that good to feed your dog this everyday. I would like to start making homemade dog food for him so I know what he's eating. Can anyone share any good homemade dog food recipes for a 6 month old Yorkie?Homemade Dog Food Recipes? ?
Doggy Hamburger Helper
1 cup hamburger meat, stir-fried in 1 tbsp canola oil
2 boiled eggs, chopped
陆 cup cooked plain oatmeal
1 jar baby food green beans
1 jar baby food carrots
2 Tbsp cottage cheese
Combine all ingredients and serve at room temperature. A good doggy multivitamin/mineral supplement may be added for good measure. Be sure to store unused portions in a covered container in the refrigerator and discard any remains after 3 days.
You can try this or others. You can find a whole bunch more at the website I got this one from!Homemade Dog Food Recipes? ?
I like a combination of raw (as in not cooked) meat, some with small bones (like chicken wings separated up), cooked brown rice (without the rice, the meal will have too much fat, and not enough carbs or fiber, you can substitute pasta or couscous if you like), some veggies chopped up very small (maybe in a food processor, things like lettuce, apples, carrots, celery, and cooked squashes and potatoes), also some raw organs (like chicken hearts, livers, and gizzards), and finally a partially cooked egg WITH THE SHELL (it needs to be partially cooked, because raw eggs can cause a biotin deficiency in dogs, the shell provides a lot of calcium.) You can also add cottage cheese, yogurt, sour cream, or raw goat's milk (goat milk has no lactose, and the other ones have had their lactose removed my bacteria, so they are all safe to feed.)
Mix it all up, put it in your dogs bowl, and add ONE of the following, flax seed oil, cod liver oil, olive oil, or powdered kelp. These things make a dog's coat nice and shiny.
If you do not like the idea of feeding raw, you can cooked the meat and the organs but do NOT feed cooked bones, ever, they splinter and are dangerous. Cooked meat, isn't as good as raw, but it's a lot better than dry kibble.
You can mix cooked chicken, rice and vegetables- my dog loves this
to make multigrain kibble -Use whole wheat and all purpose flour, cornmeal, soy flour, powdered milk, oats, wheat germ, brewers yeast, egg and corn oil. Mix these all together.

Don't give him chicken bones, they will splinter and get caught in his throat.

You'll have 100's of good results.
Both my dogs get prey model raw.
